Starmer Faces Trump Clash Over Gaza Ceasefire on Monday Meeting

Sir Keir Starmer risks clashing with Donald Trumpconcluding the war inGazawhen they meet on Monday during the visit of the US President to Scotland.

Trump has already said Hamasis not seeking peace, but Sir Keir intends to urge the president on whether further actions can be taken to halt the conflict in the Middle East.

It follows as Trump proceeds with his brief trip to Scotland to unveil a second 18-hole golf course at his property in Aberdeenshire.

Sir Keir is set to visit Scotland on Monday for private discussions with Trump, focusing on the mutual advantages that British and American citizens can gain from the UK-US trade agreement finalized in May.

However, the Prime Minister is also anticipated to raise a more delicate issue as he seeks ways to achieve an ‘urgent’ ceasefire in war-ravaged Gaza – in response to increasing international worry about the situation of residents in the area.

A spokesperson for Number 10stated that it was anticipated they would address “what further actions can be taken to secure the ceasefire quickly, put an end to the unbearable suffering and hunger in Gaza, and release the hostages who have been held in such a brutal manner for so long.”

Potential conflicts between the two leaders would arise days after members of parliament alleged that Sir Keir would be compelled to yield to pressure from ‘the real Prime Minister’ Angela Raynerand consent to acknowledge Palestinian statehood in the coming weeks.

They anticipated that Sir Keir would have no alternative but to proceed with the significant action by autumn, following his deputy’s support for the initiative.

An MP stated to The Mail on Sunday: ‘In reaction to Israel’s violent actions in Gaza, it’s Rayner – not Starmer – who is behaving like the true prime minister.’

There’s no possibility that Keir can maintain the position on this. Angela represents the Labour MPs and members on this issue.

The allegations arise as a growing humanitarian crisis unfolds in Gaza, with United Nations agencies sounding the alarm about the territory’s dwindling supply of specialized food needed to save critically undernourished children.

However, on Friday, the Prime Minister emphasized that he remains committed to his stance, asserting that acknowledging Palestine’s statehood should be part of a broader “pathway to peace” in the region.

On Monday, Sir Keir is expected to express his backing for the repatriation of the remaining 50 Israeli captives held by Hamas.

He has stated that Britain will remove seriously ill children from the Gaza Strip, mentioning that he is collaborating with Jordan to develop a strategy for dropping supplies into the area.

He stated: “Israel needs to permit aid to be delivered by land to stop the starvation occurring in Gaza. The circumstances are critical.”

We are rapidly increasing our efforts to transport children requiring urgent medical care to the UK for treatment.

Meanwhile, Israel stated that it will start dropping food packages this weekend and will establish humanitarian corridors for UN convoys to enter Gaza.

The conflict in Ukraine will also be discussed on Monday, as both politicians are scheduled to address their common goal of ending the brutal war, as reported by Number 10, and are anticipated to ‘review the advancements made in their 50-day effort to supply arms to Ukraine and compel Putin to engage in talks’.

A representative from the UK Government stated: “The United Kingdom and the United States share one of the most robust and effective partnerships the world has ever witnessed, collaborating on defense, intelligence, technology, and commerce.”

The United Kingdom was the initial nation to establish an agreement with the United States that reduced tariffs on important industries and now holds one of the smallest reciprocal tariff rates globally.

Companies in the aerospace and automotive sectors are already reaping the benefits of the UK’s robust connection with the United States, along with the agreement signed on May 8.

The administration is moving quickly alongside the US to achieve greater advantages for workers on both sides of the Atlantic, providing UK businesses with the stability they require, safeguarding essential jobs, and increasing individuals’ income through the Change Strategy.
