Ronaldo Makes Impact in Preseason Debut for Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo made a strong impression during his first preseason appearance for Al-Nassr as the club prepares for the upcoming season. The 40-year-old forward, who is set to begin his second full season with the Saudi Arabian team, showcased his sharp instincts and iconic celebrations in a friendly match against French side Toulouse.
Ronaldo was not involved in Al-Nassr’s opening preseason game, which saw the team secure a 5-2 victory over SK St. Johann. However, he returned to the starting lineup for the clash against Toulouse, where he quickly made an impact.
Just 33 minutes into the game, Ronaldo demonstrated his legendary ability to find the back of the net. He received a well-placed pass from teammate Wesley and delivered a powerful first-time finish to equalize the score. As soon as the ball crossed the line, Ronaldo celebrated with his trademark ‘Siuu’ gesture, which was met with joy from his teammates, including Sadio Mane.
This goal marked Ronaldo’s first appearance since leading Portugal to victory in the UEFA Nations League in June. His performance highlighted his continued fitness and form, despite his age.
Toulouse had taken the lead earlier in the match through French forward Yann Gboho, who scored eight minutes before Ronaldo’s equalizer. However, the Portuguese star’s goal proved to be the turning point in the game.
After halftime, Ronaldo was substituted out as new head coach Jorge Jesus made several changes to the team. This included bringing on summer signing Joao Felix, who joined Al-Nassr from Chelsea for a reported £43.7 million. Although Felix did not score, he showed glimpses of the creativity and flair that once made him one of Europe’s most promising talents.
In the second half, it was substitute Mohammed Marran who made the difference. He came on in the 59th minute and scored the winning goal 17 minutes later, securing a 2-1 victory for Al-Nassr. This marked the team’s second consecutive win in preseason, signaling a positive start to their preparations.
With Ronaldo back in form, new players integrating well, and a strong coaching presence under Jorge Jesus, Al-Nassr looks set for a competitive campaign in the coming season.
The team’s next match will be against Spanish club Almeria on August 10, as they continue to fine-tune their strategy ahead of the new season.
Restrictions on Printing Ronaldo’s Name on Shirts
A previous report highlighted the restrictions placed on printing Cristiano Ronaldo’s name on replica shirts. According to the club, this limitation is due to image rights, which are controlled by the players themselves. This rule applies not only to Ronaldo but also to other football legends such as David Beckham and Eric Cantona. These restrictions ensure that players maintain control over how their images are used in commercial products.
